AATW Artist Profile | Updated: 14th Nov 2008 | Viewed: 22212 Times

2007 saw Ultrabeat reach the top 10 of the artist album chart with their debut album along with supporting Cascada on their debut tour. 2008 has thus far been an equally successful year for the guys. In March Mike's performances at the Clubland Live concerts were one of the highlights of the tour. The summer saw Discolights as the biggest track across Clubland in the UK and further afield right across Europe to Ibiza where it was the stand out track of the season at the Clubland night at Es Paradis in San Antonio.
The guys have now finished work on their second album, self named after the title track Discolights and it will be released on the 1st of December. The album contains 16 tracks including 14 brand new compositions that cover a variety of styles but predominantly stick to the Ultrabeat style that we all know and love.
In a few weeks the guys will be appearing live on stage again at the Clubland Live 2 tour in Belfast, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester and Hull.
If your wondering who the guys behind the group are, Ultrabeat is Mike di Scala (pictured on the right) and Chris Henry (left) who both hail from Liverpool and who are also known under a whole host of different aliases as DJ's, producers and performers across many different genre's of the UK dance scene some of which you will probably recognise - Rezonance Q, BCD Project, Whelan & DiScala, M&C and ReCon to name but a few and it was through the Rezonance Q alias and the track 'Someday', that AATW first came into contact with Mike di Scala. Whilst sat in Mikes studio discussing Someday, Mike played us 'Pretty Green Eyes', a cover of the old happy hardcore track by Force & Styles. Mike has sung the majority of the Ultrabeat tracks though guest vocalist Rebecca Rudd has sung tracks like Elysium, Sure Feels Good and I Wanna Touch You.
The rest is pretty much history as strangely, as these things often work out to be, Someday went to #29 in the chart and Pretty Green Eyes went on to be a #2 hit, play listed on Radio 1, hammered all over Europe and is now rightfully acknowledged as one of the biggest dance singles of 2003 and the past ten years. The following singles were Feelin Fine' (#12), Better Than Life (#23), Feel It With Me (#57), Elysium (#38) and Sure Feels Good (#51).
The second album 'Discolights' is out on the 1st of December and marks the continued success of Ultrabeat more than five years after they first broke through and became one of the biggest commercial dance acts in the UK and beyond.
