Casper's Cha Cha Slide became the fourth biggest seller in the UK this year and the follow up - Oops Upside Your Head entered the UK chart at no.16 so well done to him - and everyone said he was a one hit wonder...pah!

He has been back in the UK and been on all the TV progs you would expect done a few gigs and he'll be back over in the next couple of weeks

He has been working with various producers putting together tracks for an album - oh yes Casper fans there will be an album full of Casper's old and new stuff hopefully in the new year

He is known as Casper, DJ Casper, Mr C - The Slide Man or indeed Willie - he got the name Casper cos he always wears (wore) white on stage - aaaaah now you see!


DJ Casper...but who is he?
born Willie Perry, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

This Chicago-based DJ/performer enjoyed notoriety as the instigator of the Cha-Cha Slide dance routine. Perry was raised in the Englewood district of Chicago, and was given the moniker Casper at the age of seven.

His love of dancing led to success at the city's annual World's Largest Steppers Contest.

The origins of the Cha-Cha Slide date back to 1996, when Mr. C created the slide dance for a personal trainer. The dance became a popular aerobic exercise at fitness clubs, and four years later he was approached by Chicago's WGCI radio station about recording a song to showcase the dance.

The city's M.O.B. Records label became involved as well, helping Mr. C create a whole album to promote the dance. Cha-Cha Slide was picked up for national distribution by Universal Records, and broke into the national Top 100 the following January.
